Vardan Avagyan, Project Manager of the Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) in Armenia, which is being managed and implemented by UWC Dilijan, recently visited Samsung CIS Headquarters (HQ) in Moscow for consultative meetings. The support for the SIC in Armenia is provided via Samsung CIS HQ, and after the first half a year of its functioning it was a good opportunity to discuss progress made in providing the programme designed to give young people in Armenia skills in developing android mobile applications. The first intake of students was 40 and currently 60 more participants are going through the application and competitive selection process. It was noted that overall performance of the pilot group in the SIC Armenia is in line with Samsung’s standards. The parties also discussed planning and future development of SIC in Armenia. Globally, Samsung offers programmes in 33 countries around the world and  2.1 million talented young people have participated so far.

Vardan Avagyan noted, “I was pleased that the results of the assessment if the pilot group of participants enrolled in the programme are on par with other SICs. After six month of operation it was a good opportunity to exchange views on teaching and learning and to be able to benchmark our performance. We are privileged that Armenia is among the countries where Samsung funds programmes, and UWC Dilijan is delighted to be a site delivering SIC to the Armenian youth.”
